Hey VOLTAGE, where can I exercise in Denver during Outdoor Retailer?

Workout close to the Convention Center or go on an adventure. We have recommendations near and far.

Need some help finding gyms in Denver during your Outdoor Retailer stay this year? Hit up something close to the Colorado Convention Center or spice it up with some more adventurous spots to get your heart pumping.

Close to you

Relax with a deserved savasana

Try hot yoga, a beginner class or a relaxing stretch session. Each class ends with a chilled scented towel to cool your chakra.

What you need: Yoga mat, ice water, workout clothes and probably a towel.

Where: CorePower Yoga, a 10-15 minute drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Take advantage of their free week during your stay.

Get your WOD at 1884 CrossFit

When you’re a CrossFitter, there are no skip days. This club is close for convention convenience.

What you need: Your CrossFit gear.

Where: 1884 CrossFit, a 5-10 minute walk from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: May we suggest some Reebok equipment?

Take a class at the YMCA

Put that family pass to work at the Downtown Denver Y. Whether you need the track or weights, this is the place.

What you need: Your pre-packed gym back in the car and ready to go.

Where: Downtown Denver YMCA, a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Late night? No problem. This Y is open ‘till 10pm Monday – Thursday.

Experience the luxe athletic life

The Denver Athletic Club was the center of athletic prowess in 1884. Nowadays it’s also a hub for professional networking for members and guests.

What you need: Gear for your favorite sport or workout. The DAC has space for almost any type of training.

Where: Denver Athletic Club, a 5 minute walk or drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Book the bowling alley for a post-convention meeting.

Climb and CrossFit

This is your one-stop-training center for CrossFit and indoor climbing. If you don’t have time to get to the mountains, the Mountain Strong gym is the next best thing.

What you need: Your climbing gear, gym clothes and plenty of hydration.

Where: Mountain Strong, a 20-30 minute drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Sign up for a free workout online right now.

Get out there

Step it up at Red Rocks

Hit up hundreds of stairs at an elevation of more than 6,000 feet. Morning or evening, there’s plenty of beauty just driving to the venue.

What you need: A breathable shirt, a sports drink and a good pair of running shoes.

Where: Red Rocks Amphitheater, a 35-45 minute drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Make a pit stop at The Cow, a diner in Morrison famous for their breakfast burrito.

Hike the Flatirons

Chautauqua Park is a picturesque scene within driving distance of Outdoor Retailer. Grab the chance to walk in a postcard setting.

What you need: Sunscreen, a good pair of hiking shoes and a bottle of water.

Where: Chautauqua Park, a 30-45 minute drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Wave hello to the VOLTAGE office as you drive past Louisville!

Adventure time

Sticking around for a few days after the convention? Try any of these longer adventures:

Endure the Incline

Can you do it? It’s only one mile forward… but 2,000 feet up!

What you need: Endurance. Lots of it. And water. Lots of that, too.

Where: The Manitou Incline, a 90-minute drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Don’t be fooled by the faux top. There are more steps beyond what you can see from the bottom.

Knock out a 14er

The closest 14,000+ foot summit to Denver is Mt. Evans, so pack your essentials and get out there.

What you need: Hiking gear, a map and safety equipment.

Where: Mt. Evans, a 90-minute drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Do your research, get there early and read some trip reports.

Visit Rocky Mountain National Park

Get ready for a classic Colorado day hike with lakes, mountains and wildlife.

What you need: Outdoor gear, sunscreen and a hiking buddy.

Where: Emerald Lake Trail, a 2-hour drive from the Colorado Convention Center.

VOLTAGE tip: Bring your camera. It’s absolutely beautiful.
