VOLTAGE, the Colorado-based advertising and design agency known for its socially conscious partnerships, bested five other agencies to win last week’s SoDA/Adobe Creative Jam.
VOLTAGE designed a desktop app that allows employees to track their time, their breaks and their training.
“At VOLTAGE, our motto is to be a Force for Good, which is why we designed this app to promote the betterment of employees by making sure they got reminders for breaks and encouragement to spend time on personal development. We also designed it to be an unobtrusive menu bar app so that it doesn’t become a distraction from their work,” said Garrett Campagna, art director at VOLTAGE.
The design work benefited Samasource – a non-profit working to alleviate global poverty by connecting marginalized women and youth to dignified work via the Internet. Samasource helps move people out of poverty by providing work that pays a sustainable, living wage in places with high rates of unemployment, including slums and rural communities in East Africa, South Asia, and the Americas.
Creative Jams are online events that combine a challenging competition with inspirational lightning talks. Design teams from SoDA member agencies around the world compete against each other in the Creative Jam tournament, a five-hour design showdown. A three-person panel of judges determines the winner at the conclusion of the event.
“Adobe Creative Jam LIVE events are conducted online to help bring top creatives together and demonstrate the best of their design thinking skills in real-time,” said Rachel Elnar, Adobe Creative Jam LIVE producer. “The SoDA-member agency Creative Jam featured an exceptionally strong field of competitors, and the team at VOLTAGE should be proud of their achievements. Given the complexity of the challenge in developing a needed digital resource for Samasource, I was impressed by VOLTAGE Advertising’s ability to develop creative, insight-driven solutions.”
In addition to bragging rights, VOLTAGE was awarded $1,000 toward the charity of their choice, The Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN). SPAN is a Boulder-based nonprofit committed to ending violence and has served the Boulder area since 1979.
“Our team embodies our Force for Good mission in two ways: doing great work and giving back to nonprofits we believe in. This win exemplifies both of these passions. Plus, it highlights our ability to deliver great work in a short time frame,” said VOLTAGE founder and CEO, Eric Fowles. “We couldn’t be happier.
