Every once in a while we work with a company whose branding really resonates with us and our creative goals. Sure, we like to talk about our digital talents, and we’re proud of our efforts, but it’s just plain fun to be working with a company whose mission so perfectly reflects their identity. Last year VOLTAGE designed and helped launch the new UPG brand with Umpqua Feather Merchants. The products were a huge success selling out quickly and receiving “Best New Flybox of 2010″ from Feild & Stream Magazine. Umpqua has released the UPG product line of streamside accessories featuring three sizes of fly boxes, a nipper tool, and retractor. The line has entered the market with a big success, quickly selling out of it’s first production run. VOLTAGE designed and developed the packaging and product line branding introducing a new “splattered” fly logo. The products are available at local flyshops across the U.S.
VOLTAGE has recently completed the identity for a new product line created by Umpqua Feather Merchants – the largest producer of hand-tied flies in the world. The new line is called UPG – for Umpqua Pro Guides. VOLTAGE has been instrumental in helping brand and package the newly designed products designed for the Professional Fly Fishing Guide – which feature a small, medium, and large sized flybox, fish nipper and zinger! The product line debuted in last years Umpqua catalog which VOLTAGE designed and the retail packaging will be completed within weeks. WHAT DO YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO ALLREADY HAS EVERYTHING?
The Gift of Giving provides a means to give a universally appealing, heart felt, deeply considerate gift every time to everyone and anyone. Through The Gift of Giving website, you can give a charitable giftcard that is later directed to a charity selected by the gift recipient. Put simply, The Gift of Giving is a conduit for charitable giving in gift packaging.
VOLTAGE worked with Frank Callahan, the mastermind behind the new gift giving idea, to develop the brand and bring the concept to market. Beginning with the Identity and Brand language VOLTAGE developed a strong graphic look that is simple and straightforward. The objective was to communicate this new concept as quickly and directly as possible. Combining strong headlines and graphic quotes with powerful imagery and collages of the many different charities became the solution.
The Gift of Giving Website had to communicate directly and quickly and this was accomplished through a simple interface and design. A strong use of imagery create the online giving atmosphere and quickly communicate the wide variety of charitable opportunities. The website was also unique in it required many custom features not typical to a regular e-commerce site. A custom backend was built enabling users to track their gifts, maintain an address book, select different gift options on purchase, customize a gifts and direct multiple gifts to different recipients.
THE GIFT BOX AND BROCHURE
To create a memorable gift giving experience VOLTAGE designed a custom giftbox that included a Giftcard, Notecard with a personal message from the gift giver, and Company Brochure. The box opens like a gift – revealing a step by step process of discovery, ultimately revealing the colorful giftcard.

VOLTAGE has designed Daybreakers new album. “See the world from here” is a great new recording from Chris Howard – who is Daybreaker. Full of sunshine filled eclectic pop – this new album is a great edition to Daybreakers work and we were thrilled to design the packaging for the CD. Trying to reflect Chris’s sound and upbeat tempo – VOLTAGE created a colorful look for the insert, disc, and traycards. Chris was pretty stoked – see the comments below.
